Note

Margaret was the daughter of William S. Herring and Annie (Washington) Herring.

Margaret married Thomas "Tom" Harrison McDaniel on September 1, 1859 in Parker County, Texas. Together they had six children.

1--Ella [1860-1885] 2--William Alonzo, Sr. [1862-1953] 3--Margaret Elizabeth [1864-1955] 4--Eliza Jane "Janie" [1864-1907] 5--Thomas Jackson "Uncle Jack" [1868-1964] 6--Infant [1872-1872]

Margaret died of childbirth complications with this infant. Tom gave the baby to his oldest sister, Elizabeth "Betsy" (McDaniel) Stubbs to raise. The baby only lived a few months and died. We do no t know if this baby was a boy or a girl, we do not have a name for it or it's birth date or death date. We do not know where it is buried. I am going to show a Memorial at the West Boone Prairie Cem etery in Robertson County, Texas where several of the McDaniels are buried.

The story that has passed down says that Tom and Margaret spent their honeymoon horseback riding to Robertson County, Texas. It has also been said that Margaret could out shoot any man that challenge d her.

After Margaret died, Tom married Rebecca Josephine Smith (Merritt).

We do not know for sure if Margaret is buried in Robertson County, where she died or Tom brought her back to Weatherford for her burial. Her son, William Alonzo, Sr. always said his mother was burie d at Weatherford, so I am adding her Memorial to the Hill Cemetery in Weatherford, Parker County, Texas where her parents and her brother, Andrew Jackson "Jack" Herring is buried.

We do not have a picture of Margaret.
