Note | Dated 17th March 1836 Thomas Davis personally appeared in open open court before the Court of Common Pleas and Quarter Sessions in order to obtain the pension benefits of the Act of Congress passe d 7 June 1732 for his service in the Revolutionary War. Thomas Davis took the oath that he was born 22 March 1760 in the District of Chesterfield and the State of South Carolina and dthat his age wa s set down first in a Prayer Book and afterwards in a Bible both of which was his father's, that his eldest brother took possession of them after his father's death and this deponent does not know wha t has become of them. He entered service of the United States under the officers as states in this account. He was drafted a short time before Christmas and served as a Private under Captain Morri s Murphy and Maj. Robert Lloyd, that he does not recollect the Regiment to which he belonged; that he was marched to a placed called "Long Bluff" on Pee Dee River in South Carolina and from there to S eawee Bay and then to Haducts Point and then to James Island near Charleston and then returned home having served his tour nine weeks. He was again drafted and marched as a Private under Capt John D e Witt and Col. George Hicks to Cheraw in South Carolina where he remained one month anad returned home. He was again drafted as a Private and on 8th Feb he marched under Capt Ellerbe and Col. Georg e Hicks across the BlackRiver at Busbour and Crossed Santee at Lamusi Ferry and proceeded to Charleston - he was in Charleston at the time it was taken by the British under Clinton where he was take n prisoner on 11th day May after his march and was discharged on parole on 19the of the same month having served this tour up to this time he was taken prisoner three months and four days. He Serve d two tours of two weeks each as one of a scouting party. He again was drafted and marched as a Private under Capt William Preswood to McCords Ferry on Congaree River in South Carolina where Col. Was hington took command - He returned home from McCords Ferry having served tour one month and remained home two months. He was drafted again and served as Private under Capt Benton and Maj. Tristam Thom as for a month and nver received a discharge. He hereby relinquishes every claim to a pension or annutiy except the present and declares that his name is not on the pension roll of the agency of any S tate. Thomas Davis made is mark as he could not read.
